Makeup Revolution was probably one of the most drooled over brands in Pakistan following its recent launch at just4girls.pk but does it live up to all the hype?
The Brand Claims: You will be amazed at the quality of the lipstick – this is your MUST HAVE lipstick, and better still, amazing value at £1 each so you can collect them all! Over 20 shades of this creamy, long lasting lipstick with high color payoff. From nudes to brights, and mattes to creamy there is something to suit everyone. With 2 Lipstick Collections too – The Scandalous Collection full of neon and bright colors and The Vamp Collection with your on trend purple and dark shades.
My Experience:
Makeup Revolution lipsticks come in a plain black packaging that neither screams expensive nor cheap. The packaging is not sturdy and the cap does not lock in place firmly. It has Makeup Revolution printed on it in gold and just like MUA packaging the cap is topped off with a transparent plastic pot containing, what appears to be a minute amount of the respective lipstick.Though unlike Makeup Academy, that pot can't be removed (In case you are interested in using the extra lipstick, break it off at your own risk).
The lipstick glides effortlessly on my lips. In fact the texture is so soft and buttery that it combined with the hot weather caused one of my lipsticks to break from the base the first time I applied it. Keeping it in the fridge didn't help either and the other one also broke after a few uses. So I would suggest to use it with a brush. As for the scent, it is a faint vanilla which is not detectable after application.
The colors I got from Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick's vast range of 30 and growing are Treat and Mystify. Treat is a nude with a hint of pink. Its a perfect go to color for daily wear and is one of my most favourites these days. Mystify is a pink with silver shimmery particles. Both colors have a creamy and shiny coverage. The lasting power of both lipsticks is merely 2-3 hours and reduces further if you take a meal. They don't settle into fine lines or dry out my lips. I really like both colors and have tried my best to love the lipsticks but it just isn't happening. When it comes to makeup, I am a lipstick person and it really annoys me to have to reapply mine every hour or so.
Given the price tag I shouldn't be complaining but since I love wearing these colors every other day I would really like Makeup Revolution to work on the staying power. Other than that, the formulation of the lipsticks is very good.
Pros:
My Rating: 3.5/5

DeleteMUR products are great in such reasonable price, I am still to try them. Both shades you picked are gorgeous and did lovely swatches :)
ReplyDeleteGlamupGirls
You have to get your hands on MUR. They have so many amazing products.
DeleteHey I know a good trick to harden the soft lipstick... Basically due to humidity they get softer and easier to break so keep it in the egg tray in your fridge for 2 hours and it is good to go. You should try this trick at least once a week with all your lippies to prevent them from breaking.
ReplyDeleteI love these shades, so wearable for an everyday look.
I did keep them in fridge Fatemah. Infact I had taken Mystify out of my fridge to apply when it broke.
DeleteLovely shades! And for such reasonable price. Great review! x

Mystify broke a week or two ago. In the dead of winter so I don't think heat was the reason behind my broken lipsticks...
