NOTD: WINTER WONDERLAND FEAT. ESSENCE SPARKLE SAND TOP COAT

These few past years, nail trends have revolutionized. There have been many additions that we loved. The one I got to try recently is the sand effect.
The Brand Claims: Super sand style! This top coat with an innovative sand effect is a true must-have. Apply your favorite nail polish, leave to dry and then apply the sand top coat on top to give any color a fantastic, slightly matt 3D structure with subtle shimmer particles.

Essence Sparkle Sand top coat in I Feel Gritty is a mix of white flecks and silver glitter. Despite being a glittery top coat, its consistency is not thick and goopey at all. You can apply it on top of any nail polish to get the beautiful, gritty sand effect or just apply it on your bare nails for a sparkly look. Due to Essence Sparkle Sand's milky color, whatever nail polish you apply it on will appear lighter than its actual color. Also remember that you don't need to apply top coat on it. That will just ruin the whole effect.
Since its freezing now a days, I have done a snowflakes tutorial using Sparkle Sand.

It is pretty easy to recreate. Have a look at the detailed steps:

First off paint your nails with one coat of Sparkle Sand. But applying it directly to nails gives them a purplish cast which I don't like. To remedy that I first applied a jelly finish pink nail polish on my nails and them followed with one coat of Sparkle Sand. This might not sound very important but it does give the nails a natural color and makes a huge difference. Here is a picture:

If you can't find any jelly finish nail color you can also use any pink french manicure nail polish.
Take a sponge and apply some Sparkle Sand on it. Dab the sponge on your nail covering 2/3 of it starting from your tips. Repeat it a few times to get the desired glitter effect. Again apply some top coat on the sponge and cover 1/3 of your nail this time. Repeat if necessary. This will give a beautiful gradient effect that looks like snow has accumulated on your nail tips.

To make the snow flakes:
1- Make six lines coming out of a point using white nail polish/acrylic paint.

2- Just before the end of each line, draw a 'V' shape.

There are many other ways snowflakes can be drawn. You can try whatever you like best.
Draw as many snowflakes as you like and instead of using a top coat, apply another coat of Sparkle Sand at the end. Here is the finished look in different lighting:

However you use Sparkle Sand on your nails, it will look pretty but unsurprisingly taking it off is a pain and you need to be prepared for that. Essense Sparkle Sand Top Coat is available at all leading stores across the country.
